Sean Hannity attacked VP Harris for rightfully pointing out that Republicans want to take away women's reproductive freedom and outright lied about the fact that yes, Republicans do want to take away the right to have an abortion, and if they're allowed to get their way, they'll pass a nationwide ban.

Here's Hannity on his radio show this Thursday carrying water for Trump, who he knows full well is going to get clobbered on this issue in the general election:

SEAN HANNITY (HOST): Kamala Harris sticking to their demagogue, a demagoguing of abortion issue and saying, “the Supreme Court overturning the Roe decision took away a Constitutional right for women in America." That's not what it did at all. It allows the states to decide individually what they want in terms of the state standards for abortion. Nice try, but what she said is just false. On abortion rights, she said, “this is about taking freedoms away." Nobody's taking away anybody's right to an abortion. You know, it may not be as convenient as it once was because of where you live, but you're going to have access to abortion even, you know, Democrats' belief that you're going to have late term abortion, which is insane to me and infanticide to me.

Hannity's been lying about the abortion issue for some time now. Back in November he was accusing Democrats of trying to "scare women" on abortion after the GOP took a shellacking in Pennsylvania and Ohio:

Fox News host Sean Hannity accused Democrats of trying to “scare” women voters into thinking Republicans want a nationwide ban on abortion, which he said contributed to GOP losses in Tuesday night’s elections.

“Democrats are trying to scare women into thinking Republicans don’t want abortion legal under any circumstances,” Hannity said on his nightly prime-time show after election results had come in Tuesday.

The host mentioned the sizable loss Republicans took in the 2022 Pennsylvania gubernatorial race, in which Republican Doug Mastriano advocated for strict abortion restrictions with no exceptions for rape or incest and lost by double digits.

As ProPublica reported, maternal deaths are expected to rise in states with abortion bans, but it's hard to track and sometimes may take years for the data to reveal the toll. As to Hannity's lie that no one is having their "freedom" taken away, as Time reported, legal abortions are down 96% in states with the most restrictions since Roe was overturned, and as The New York Times reported in November, "The first estimate of births since Dobbs found that almost a quarter of women who would have gotten abortions carried their pregnancies to term."

And, as CAP reported last summer, "Abortion bans disproportionately affect marginalized groups," enforcement mechanisms for these laws " include criminal penalties, bounty hunter provisions, and fear and confusion."

Here's more from Harris' speech this week that Hannity apparently felt he had to respond to:

Vice President Kamala Harris blasted Republicans as extremists for trying to ban abortions as she rallied women in the key battleground state of Wisconsin on Monday, marking the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade by leading Democrats’ charge for restoring reproductive rights.

She singled out Donald Trump, who is tightening his grip on the Republican presidential nomination, for saying he was “proud” of helping to limit abortions. Trump nominated three conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court during his term in office, paving the way for the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

“Proud that women across our nation are suffering?” Harris said. “Proud that women have been robbed of a fundamental freedom? Proud that doctors could be thrown in prison for caring for their patients? That young women today have fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers?”

“How dare he?” she added.

The barrage reflects the White House’s intense focus on abortion rights during this year’s presidential campaign.
